Bishop Kenneth M. Yelverton is the Founder and Pastor of The Temple of Refuge Church, located in the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is both gifted and anointed to extract from the Holy Scriptures revelatory messages that bring deliverance and healing to the total person; mind, body, and spirit.

Bishop Kenneth Yelverton is the last of seven children, born to Bishop and Mrs. Frizelle Yelverton of Durham, North Carolina. After graduating from Hillside High School, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In preparation for ministry, he obtained a Master of Divinity Degree from the Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC, with a concentration in Homiletics and Christian Education and he earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree as a Donald Hilliard - Leonard Sweet Fellow, from Drew University in Madison, NJ.

After much prayer, in January of 1999 Bishop Yelverton launched The Temple of Refuge Church in the heart of Charlotte, NC.  The Temple of Refuge is a vibrant ministry noted for its powerful preaching, dynamic worship, and community impact. He serves on several boards throughout the city of Charlotte dealing with a wide range of issues from affordable housing to social injustice. He is the author of the critically acclaimed book, “Sex and The Kingdom: A Biblical Portrait of Human Sexuality”, where he deals with the “taboo subject” of sex from a Biblical perspective.

Bishop Yelverton is married to Lady Sharon A. Yelverton, and the proud father of three children Germain, Kendall, and Kendrick.

Bishop Yelverton’s personal motto scripture is 2 Corinthians 4:5, 7 which reads, “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake… But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us."
